Gwenna Wildman

Gwenna Wildman, age 93 of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday April 12, 2023, at her home in Liberty, surrounded by family. The daughter of Spencer and Gleda Stevens, Gwenna was born on March 31, 1930, in Richmond. She grew up on her family's farm in Kitchel with her two siblings. The Stevens farm always remained an important part of her life.
Gwenna was united in marriage to the love of her life, Doyne Wildman, on October 25, 1957, in Liberty. They enjoyed nearly 65 years together prior to his passing on April 1, 2022. Together, they were blessed with 6 children.
Gwenna was a long-time member of Hanna's Creek Christian Church near Kitchel. She was committed to her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent for several years. She was also a member of the Hanna's Creek Women's Fellowship. In addition to her church, she was a member of the JUG club, Union County Historical Society, Union County Cemetery Association, Harmony Club, and the Gypsy African Violet Club. She also served as a Harrison Township Trustee for several years.
Gwenna loved spending time outdoors. She could often be found working in her flower gardens and landscaping around her home.
In her earlier years, Gwenna worked at the Liberty Restaurant where she met her husband, Doyne. After their marriage, she committed more than 50 years to Wildman Excavating which she helped create with her husband. Gwenna's biggest commitment was being a homemaker taking care of her 6 children and the home she and Doyne built together.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Dale) Allison, of Washington, Indiana, Rick Brandenburg, of Carson, Washington, Tedd (Anke) Wildman, of Prosser, Washington, Tom (Paula) Wildman, of Liberty and Tresa Wildman, of Muncie; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanne Hubbard.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxanne Brandenburg; a grandson, James Wildman; a brother, Dale Stevens; and an infant sister, Phyllis Stevens.
The family would like to thank Gwenna's loving caregivers Karen Beard, Joanna Dearth, Kathy Burkhead, and Lori Brittenham. They would also like to thank the Aseracare Hospice Team for their compassionate care as well.
The funeral service for Gwenna will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, 1:00pm, at Hanna's Creek Christian Church near Kitchel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Graveside services will be held at West Point Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Gwenna to Hanna's Creek Christian Church.
