Gervose Short

Gervose Short, age 73, of Brookville, died July 26, 2023 at his residence in Brookville.
Born June 20, 1950 in Knott County, Kentucky, he was one of seven children born to the late H.C. and Inez (Reynolds) Short. On May 6, 1972 he and the former Karen Brack were united in marriage and she survives.
Gervose was retired, having worked for many years at the former Ford Visteon in Connersville. In his leisure time he enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, softball, deer hunting, as well as playing cards, especially Texas Hold 'em.
He was a member of the Redmen Oshawnee #220 of Brookville, as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville.
Besides Karen, his wife of over 51 years, survivors include four children, Brian (Jennifer) Napier of Glenwood, Sean Short of Brookville, Jennifer Strothman of Batesville, and Tyrone Short of Brookville; six grandchildren; two sisters, Kate Dunham of Troy, Michigan and Donna (Jeff) Korner of West Harrison; a brother, Ollie Short of Cincinnati.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ryan Strothman; as well as three brothers, Randolph Short, Radford Short, and Taulbee Short.
Family and friends visited on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Wayne Ison officiated the funeral services on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial followed in Little Children's Home Cemetery in Laurel.
