The Franklin County Lady Wildcat golf team, under the leadership of second-year head coach Taylor Erfman, got another promising season underway last week at Liberty Country Club.
Playing on Tuesday for the season debut after not having enough practice in for the annual Richmond Invitational the day prior, the girls placed fourth among nine schools with a collective round of 382. The team's senior leaders paced the effort with Crystal Calihan shooting 85 and Nicole Mears 86; classmate Lillie Graf was next at 93. Senior Jacy Grimmeissen added 122 and Emma Tolhurst 118.
At Greensburg Country Club Saturday, the Wildcats earned fifth place out of 18 teams. Calihan (83), Mears (84) and Graf (88) were atop the Cats' leaderboard again as Grimmeissen posted 108 and Tolhurst 111.
FC advanced to another regional last fall where they placed ninth overall as a squad. This year's postseason starts Sept. 16 at Greensburg Country Club.
