Anita L. Jackson

Anita L. Jackson, 64, a long-time Falmouth area resident, passed away August 8, 2023 in Indianapolis. Anita was born December 12, 1958 in Helmsburg. to Kenneth and Norma (Brummett) Pate. Anita was a 1977 graduate of Danville Community High School and obtained her Vet Tech certificate from Morehead State University in 1985.
Anita spent her early life in Danville, lived in Kentucky for several years, had lived in Monrovia, Greenfield and Knightstown before marrying Scott K. Jackson on May 17, 1998 and moved to Falmouth.
She worked as a Vet Tech in Kentucky many years but spent most of her working life with Eli Lilly in Greenfield doing cancer research in the lab until retiring in 2008. She spent five years with Covance after Lilly sold to them and then was a postal clerk for 10 years at the Lewisville and Dublin Post Office.
Anita was a firefighter & EMT with the Raleigh Fire Department. She served as safety and transportation director with Mays Community Academy for a few years and Rushville School Board for 12 years.
She was an animal lover and enjoyed gardening, tending to her chickens and helping with the farm and livestock. She loved to read and could never learn enough about various subjects. She enjoyed traveling to Louisville for the annual farm show and always looked forward to the Pioneer Engineer's annual steam engine show in Rushville.
Anita will be missed by her husband, Scott, of Falmouth, her parents, Kenneth and Norma Pate of Monrovia, her daughter, Vicki Crosby of Rushville, stepchildren, Joshua A. Jackson (Jennifer Hahn) of Straughn and Ashley M. Wilson (Wayne Sprinkle) of Greensburg, her sister, Katy Pate (Fred Mau) of Marietta, Georgia, brothers, Dave (Brenda) Pate of Brazil, John (Sherrie) Pate of Shelbyville and Jim Pate of Cleveland, Ohio, nine grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
A celebration of life was held at 10 AM Monday, August 14, 2023 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends visited the family on Sunday, August 13. The Raleigh Fire Department provided “Last Call” rites at the conclusion of services in the mortuary on Monday.
Cremation took place after services in the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Raleigh Fire Department.
