Gretchen Beth (Stuart) Hale, age 68, of Metamora, died Wednesday morning August 9, 2023 at Bethesda North Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born January 31, 1955 in Evansville, she was one of three children born to the late Gerald Leo and Dorthy Lee (Ketcham) Stuart. On April 23, 1994 she was united in marriage to William P. Hale, and he survives.
She was a member of the National Education Association as well as the Indiana State Teachers Association.
Gretchen was retired, having taught high school English and speech for over 30 years in the Loogootee and Warrick County Indiana school corporations. In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling, and theatre.
Besides William, her husband of nearly 30 years, survivors include a sister, Jennifer Izsak of Toledo, Ohio and a brother, Milton (Marla) Stuart of Chandler, Indiana
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
