Michael G. Lathery

Michael G. Lathery, age 61, of Liberty, passed away on August 12, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Michael was born on July 6, 1962 in Connersville, the son of the late Edward Lathery, Sr., and Alena Richardson Lathery. He was united in marriage on September 15, 2007 to Lora Scalf Lathery. They enjoyed 15 years together prior to his passing.
From 1982 to 1986, he served his country in the United State Army. Michael worked in customer service for the last several years for Herdrich Petroleum at the Shell Station in Liberty. He also worked at Roots Blower in Connersville for 30 years. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Everton. He loved talking to others about the Lord and witnessing to people. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He coached soccer and football in Union and Fayette counties as well as being a referee for soccer. The thing that he valued the most was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, his memory will be cherished by his children, Tasha (Alyson) Ritter, Abigail Lathery and Michael V. Lathery; and his grandchildren, Dorothy Pettet, Sami Zaroui and Amira Zaroui. He will be thought of often by his sisters, Pamela Bowling and Jewell (Gene) Poe; a brother, Allen Messer; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Lathery, Jr. and sisters, Deborah Sue Lathery, Alice Evans and Tamela Flemming.
Friends may gather at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home, 310 N Main, Liberty, on Friday August 25, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Tim Tice at 3:00 pm.
