Girl Scouts enjoy a field trip full of fun, discovery, and education

The Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts of St. Michael's School recently went on an extraordinary field trip the Miami University Geology Museum. There, they had the pleasure of meeting of with Professor Maija Sipola and graduate students, Abi and Wilnelly. The girls were able to tour the newly remodeled museum and see several exhibits. These include the 16-inch trilobite, meteorites, crinoids, ammonites, crystals, and minerals.

Afterward, the girls were given the chance to create landscapes with the Augmented Reality Sandbox. They made mountains, rivers, and oceans, which were then projected onto a computer screen as typographic maps. Next up on their exciting trip, the girls were then able to dig through layers of earth to find animals and fossils. With the girls having so much fun on their tour, a Tyrannosaurus Rex decided to join the tour with them. To end their field trip, the girls stopped at the Goggin Ice rink for several hours of ice skating fun!
