In the breaking hours of Jan. 28, the Liberty Fire department was dispatched to a fire on Dunlapsville Road. All of the residents were treated at the scene with only minor injuries, but the house was a total loss. West College Corner Fire Department and Reid EMS responded to the scene as well, in what was said to be characteristically record time. Union County Dep. Ryan Richardson wrote about the response, “I've never seen a quicker response time than Liberty Fire, College Corner Fire, and Reid EMS…These volunteers are an amazing group.” Richardson was on scene, as was Liberty Police Department, and was able to snap some photos of the action after helping secure family pets. By 3:00 a.m. Everton Fire was called to assist with the fully engulfed two-story structure fire. By 5:00 a.m. the scene was being cleared. Information about the family's needs, clothing sizes, and GoFundMe account can be found on Liberty and College Corner community Facebook pages. A debt of gratitude is owed to the men and women who go out on these calls for our community.
