Michael “Mick” McDonough

Mick McDonough was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Pauline (nee Hubbard) and Gerald McDonough on July 24, 1953. He grew up in College Corner, attending College Corner Union School, Class of 1971. Mick proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard and later attended Ohio State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in forestry. He married Marilee Irwin, the love of his life, on August 18, 1973.
Mick was an avid outdoorsman. He was a steward of the land and shared this love and respect with his children, nieces and nephews. He taught all of the children in his life to hunt, fish and enjoy being outside. More than anything, Mick adored being a father and grandfather. His children were his pride and delight. He will always be remembered for his love of nature and great sense of humor, but his love and devotion will live on in his children.
Mick and Marilee were longtime members of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford. He also served for over 32 years on the College Corner Union School Board. He had a servant's heart and was very committed to his community.
Mick is the beloved husband of Marilee McDonough; devoted father of Daniel McDonough and Timothy McDonough; cherished grandfather of Kahlen Kulms and Khloe McDonough; dear brother of Constance McDonough, Thomas (Ada) McDonough, Shannon (Rick) Maddock and Kelly McDonough; loving uncle of Sean McDonough, Ryan McDonough, Jason Maddock, Erin Maddock, Justin Maddock, Courtney McDonough and Nate McDonough; he is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews as well as many close friends. He is preceded in death by his father Gerald and his son Timothy.
A visitation for Mick was held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church from 10 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm. Burial followed at College Corner Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Paul R. young Funeral Home, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mick's name to the College Corner Community Club (P.O. Box 421 West College Corner, IN 47003).
