Funeral services for Rev. Ellen Margaret McCarty Anderson, a former Brookville resident, were held at the First Christian Church of Kokomo on Friday, February 3.
Ellen was born to Walter and Margaret McCarty on July 20, 1944 and died on January 28, 2023. Both of her parents are deceased. She is survived by her husband, Tom Anderson of Kokomo; a daughter, Tracy (Troy) Holaday and their sons, Max and Logan Holaday of San Diego; a son, Brett (Gwendolyn) Anderson of Fort Lauderdale; her sisters, Julia Riggs of Connersville and Mary-Alice Helms of Brookville; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ellen graduated from Brookville High School with the Class of 1962 and from Ball State University in 1965, and later graduated from Christian Theological Seminary and Butler University. Ellen held many positions, including that of associate pastor of the First Christian Church in Kokomo. In addition to her activities with the church, Ellen was a member of P.E.O. and the Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa. She was an active member of her community and will be greatly missed.
