Volunteers needed for FCHS “Employability Skills Day”

Franklin County High School is pursuing a new initiative, "Employability Skills Day," which will allow local businesses and volunteers to become involved with FCHS.
“This is a new initiative we would like to try," said FCHS Career and Readiness Counselor Sara Shaver. "But we need to have enough help from the community to make this day work.”
Employability Skills Day will be held on April 14, but is still "under construction. For this day to be successful, several individuals from a variety of businesses are needed to conduct "mock" interviews all morning with students.
“We want to be able to teach our students about soft skills in the workplace, interviewing skills, handshakes, eye contact, and any other tips you- the employer- can provide," Shaver explained. "As many of you may know, many students lack these skills, and we want to ensure that we are setting our students up for success.”
Additional details will be released prior to the event as more information is available, but Shaver wanted to make sure the community was aware of the opportunity.
"We want to educate our students to be as prepared as possible after graduating high school, no matter the path they choose," Shaver said. "If you know of any other employers, retired teachers, or any adult willing to volunteer their time, please pass along!" To obtain more information or to participate in Employability Skills Day, email [email protected] or call the high school at (765) 647-4101.
