SELMA – In what was supposed to be a 4-team holiday tournament, Franklin County ended up playing host Wapahani in a single matchup Dec. 28. The outcome was solid for the visitors as the Lady Wildcats won 63-55 over a 10-win Raider squad.
Wapahani led 34-30 at halftime and 45-43 with one quarter to go. FC stormed back with a 20-10 final period to post their second-highest point total of the season.
“This game showed that we are still able to put up a lot of points in a game against a tough opponent,” said coach Kyle VanMeter.
Senior Kassidy Schell led the Cats with 24 points with classmate Josie Rolfes pumping in 16. Junior pivot Nicole Mears added 14.
FC (10-3) traveled to conference foe Rushville Tuesday (result not available at press time) and hosts a tough Greensburg Pirate team the night of Jan. 7 in another EIAC matchup.
