A battle of Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference foes took place on Tuesday evening when the Franklin County Lady Wildcats visited Memorial Gym to take on the Rushville Lady Lions. 

In a game that was close throughout, the home team kept the momentum in their favor. Rushville's Kylee Herbert was on point knocking down five three-point shots in the game, and RCHS seniors Briley Munchel and Belle Gossett knocked down free throws to put the game away. FC senior Kassidy Schell was the workhorse for her squad in the final period, scoring 11 in the frame. Rushville worked the ball until they got open shots, two of those from Ericka Kuhn late in the fourth. That was enough to send the Lady Cats back down Highway 52 with their fourth loss of the season. 

Franklin County came out of the gate and went up 4-0 with Kiersten Schell and Nicole Mears each getting a basket. A Munchel freebie and a Herbert long ball tied the game up. After battling back and forth, the Lady Lions led 10-8 midway through the frame. Lady Cats' senior Josie Rolfes hit back-to-back three pointers to FC up 14-10, then Rushville went on an 8-0 run over the next two minutes to go back up 18-14. Ka. Schell added a last-second layup, and the game was just a two-point affair, 18-16 through one quarter. A low scoring second period saw Rushville put up 10 points from four different players; FC managed seven in the frame while going three of six from the line. The Lady Lions led at the half 28-23. 

The second half began with Franklin County going on a 6-2 run and taking the lead 32-30 midway through the third period. Herbert and Munchel each scored for Rushville to regain the lead a minute later. Herbert put her squad up by four with another outside the arc shot and it was 37-33 Lady Lions. Ki. Schell got a two-point basket for FC, then Herbert hit from downtown again keeping RCHS on top. The Lady Lions added one more field goal in the frame; the Lady Cats added four points, then got a last- second three pointer from Ka. Schell that tied the game at 42-42 going into the final period. 

Carly Senour got Rushville ahead by six points to start the fourth quarter, hitting back-to-back three pointers. Franklin County battled back, going on an 8-0 run and took the lead 50-48 with 3:30 to go in the contest. The Lady Lions slowed down their offense and found open shots with Kuhn hitting two and putting her squad up by two. The final two minutes of the game, FC's Ka. Schell scored all the Lady Cats' points after Mears fouled out of the game; she scored seven for FC over the final run. Rushville spent the remainder of the game at the free throw line with Gossett and Munchel doing the shooting. The senior duo knocked down seven of their eight attempts and gave the Lady Lions a narrow win.   

Rushville was led in scoring by Herbert with 17, Munchel 12, Gossett 11, Senour 8, Kuhn 7, Gracie Buzzard 4.

Franklin County's Ka. Schell led all scorers with 22 points, she grabbed 5 rebounds and picked up 4 assists, FC got 10 points from Mears (10 points, 7 rebounds) and Rolfes (10 points, 6 rebounds), Ki. Schell added 9 and Macy Crain 6.
