Lena M. Healey, age 76, of Battle Creek, passed away on December 22, 2022, at home. She was born on May 15, 1946, in Richmond, IN., the daughter of Vince and Sallie (Abner) York. Lena graduated from Short High School in Liberty, Indiana in 1964, then went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education with Early Child Endorsement from Ball State University in 1968. She was previously employed as a teacher for McKinley Elementary, where she taught first grade and kindergarten for 25 years. Lena was a founding member at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek, and auxiliary member of Gideons International. She loved nature anytime it was 72 degrees. Lena enjoyed traveling which included going to see her boys and grandkids in Seattle, Washington, taking cruises on the Mediterranean Sea and Caribbean, vacationing in South Haven and Hawaii or anyplace that had a water view. She enjoyed sitting on a beach or balcony watching the waves, which was a special time for her. She also enjoyed going to golf tournaments, especially the Masters. Lena loved to shop for her grandkids. She was united in marriage on June 15, 1968, to Leland “Lee” Healey for 54 ½ years, he survives. Also surviving are her children; Todd (Taylor), Alex, Alyssa, Luke from Snohomish, WA., Scott (Kimi), Josh, Chris from Vashon, WA., siblings; Oakley York and Rachael Marcum from Liberty, IN. Funeral service was Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family received friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mike Frison officiated. There was a luncheon at the funeral home following the service, with entombment taking place at Memorial Park Cemetery following the luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Gideons International.
