EIAC reveals top spring athletes

Following the spring 2023 season, the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference officially announced those athletes earning all-conference honors.
Sam Bond of the champion East Central Trojans was baseball MVP and Sara Ruble was most valuable in softball as her Connersville Lady Spartans went unbeaten in league play.
Those two champs had the most selections with five each. Batesville baseball had four and Franklin County three for each sport. Rushville softball collected a pair of nods and Lion baseball one; Batesville softball had a solo selection.
Batesville's Charlie Schebler, a Class 3A honorable mention all-state choice for the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association, joined teammates Jack Grunkemeyer, Max Baumer and Will Jaisle as all-EIAC. Xander Rodriguez, Chase Burton and Garrett Kuntz made it for FC baseball while Brooke Stang, Kiersten Schell and Josie Rolfes were Wildcat softball options. Renee Lecher was Batesville softball's pick. FC's Brant Ertel was Academic All-Conference and All-State.
Stacey Roberts and Kylie Gray were Rushville Lady Lion selections while Keegan Bowles represented Lion baseball.
In track and field, Connersville's boys earned eight positions and EC's girls six. Batesville had three boys and a pair of girls. FC boasted four girls and one boy and Rushville totaled one girl.
Bulldogs were Jake Chapman, Ayden Eckstein and Hudson Kohlman (boys) and Ava Hanson and Kaylynn Bedel (girls). Relay stars Audrey Harper, Mackenzie Brzezinski, Madison Merritt and Ella Flannery were awarded for FC while sprinting standout Christian Stortz also made it. Rushville's Cyndi Tush pole vaulted her way onto the list. Connersville state champ Ahniyah Bennett, a freshman, set EIAC records in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes.
In addition, Batesville's Leo Moody and Jackson Wanstrath swung their way onto the boys all-conference golf team.
