John P. Tumlin

John P Tumlin, of Harrison, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on March 18, 1939, to John N and Cecelia (nee Rolfes) Tumlin. John served in the US Navy from 1958 – 1962. He was a radioman in the Navy and served on the USS Lake Champlain, USS Forrestal, and the USS Independence during his service. After returning he met Roseann Volk at a wedding, and they were married February 2, 1963. Together they were blessed with five children: Doug, Cheryl, Brian, Craig, and Bruce. John started his own contracting business, John P. Tumlin and Sons, in 1976. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and taking great care of his property. The most important thing to John was his family, especially his grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Roseann Tumlin; devoted children: Doug (Sandy) Tumlin, Cheryl (Doug) Simmermeyer, Brian (Stacie) Tumlin, Craig (Jennifer) Tumlin, and Bruce (Stephane) Tumlin; beloved grandchildren: Rebecca, Stephanie, and Lauren Tumlin, Ryan (Rebecca Kjell), Megan, and Elizabeth Simmermeyer, Andrew, and Eric Tumlin, Jason, Jonathan (Kate Klusman), and Jacob Tumlin, Seth, Anna, and Cecelia Tumlin.

John was preceded in death by his parents: John N and Cecelia Tumlin.

Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home (Harrison) on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10010 Carolina Trace Rd, Harrison, Ohio on Wednesday, July 19, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Paul Rewe officiating. Inurnment to follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery with Military Honors.
