Recently, Franklin County held the Open Fun Show at the Fairgrounds. There were 11 events scheduled and included several class divisions so that even the younger kids have a chance to show their stuff and gain incredible confidence.

There were 64 riders total who participated at the event (local, Goshen, Liberty, Connersville, Bright, Harrison). Sue Summey Lohrey and Kim Arnold are the chairmen for the committee responsible for putting the event on. It was supported by a large group of the FC Mustanger parents, and event hosted by the FC Mustanger Horse and Pony Club.

Because everyone pitched in and gave 100%, this Open Fun Show was a huge success! The event started at 8:30 and ran until after 9, and even though the temperatures were high, the crowd stayed positive and all of the riders gave their best efforts.

The show was designed to give the young ages, 12th grade and below, inexperienced riders the opportunity to gain confidence and experience the show ring. As there aren't very many shows catered towards beginners, this event made sure to not only include them, but ensure everyone has a chance to show.

The crowd and riders who came were amazing and there were positive reviews flying in from every direction. Parents attending not only volunteered when needed, but were ready to applaud and show immense support to everyone involved and give these kids a day to remember and a sense of pride in their performance. Due to them, the riders, and the overall fundraising, The Open Fun Show raised approximately $2000 for the Horse and Pony Club!

Thanks to:

Hall Farms of St. Leon - donated trophies, ribbons, chopped straw, and bedding.

Summey Photography - donated numbers and paperwork supplies

Some reviews listed:

"This was an amazing show! Just what is needed for the upcoming generation of horseman and horsewomen!"

"You had a very nice show and it was great to see the lil ones able to do a few classes! What a turn out on the youngins and future horse lovers!"

Lastly, a list of the events held:

Showmanship
English Walk Trot
English Pleasure
Western Walk Trot
Western Pleasure
Horsemanship
Trail
Texas 8
Barrels
Flags
Poles
Texas Key Hole

The Open Fun Show was a huge success and a fantastic opportunity for the younger ages. We're glad to see everyone had an incredible time and I'm sure the next event will be even better!
