Marylee Feller
June 20, 2023 at 8:08 p.m.
Franklin County native, Marylee Feller, passed away peacefully at the age of 93, Friday June 16, 2023, in Brownsburg Meadows, just nine days after the death of her husband of 75 years, Art Feller.
Marylee was born in Springfield Township to the late Leland and Mary (Lake) Loper, October 31, 1929. She graduated from Springfield Township High School and began working for Hubbard Law Firm. On May 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Arthur C. Feller at St. Michael Catholic Church, Brookville. After raising six very active and athletically inclined children, Mrs. Feller worked for 22 years as the production coordinator at Franklin Casket in Brookville. She was a member of St. Michael Church where she chaired many church bazaars and was a soprano in the church choir; also, a member of the American Legion Bernard Hurst Post #77 Ladies Auxiliary (Indiana) and Post #131 (Arizona), Brookville's Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, women's bowling, and golf leagues. She loved reading and spent many years compiling the Loper/Feller family ancestry; was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. All her children and grandchildren possess a personally designed afghan. Both Marylee and her husband grew up on farms but made their home in Brookville's town limits. This didn't keep them from sharing the wonders of gardening and farm life with the kids on their parents' farms near Whitcomb. She and her husband spent retirement in Green Valley/Indianapolis to be closer to children. Time was spent enjoying the many activities and lifetime achievements of the grandchildren/great-grandchildren, playing cards, shuffleboard, bocce, golf and traveling with her husband throughout the US and abroad. The morning ritual of working the daily crossword with her husband continued until their final days.
Survivors include her six children, Pam Sweigart, Green Valley, Ariz., Bob (Debbie) Feller, Sunman, Judy (Bill) O'Brien, Sun City, Calif., Terry (Nancy) Feller, Honolulu, Grady (LaDonna) Feller and Jay (Teri) Feller, Indianapolis, nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Feller was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Reister, granddaughter, Jordan Vanzant, niece, Brenda Sue Reister and great-nephew, Neal Pelsor. Marylee's life was celebrated Monday, June 19 following her husband's interment at Crown Hill National Cemetery, Indianapolis, where she will also be laid to rest in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the Feller family request donations in Marylee's memory be directed towards The American Legion Bernard Hurst Post #77 Auxiliary or Franklin County Community Foundation, Inc.
