Joseph Wayne (Joey) Rasnick, age 59, passed peacefully in his home on Monday, June 19, 2023 after a five year battle with cancer.
Born September 19, 1963 in Connersville, the son of Joe Rasnick Sr. and Gerlene (Peters) Rasnick.
Joey graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1982. After graduation Joey spent 23 years working at Ford/Visteon as a machine set-up operator. After the closing of Ford/Visteon, he opened Rasnick's Body Shop and was self-employed for the remainder of his career.
Joey married Lesley Ann (Howard) Rasnick on November 3, 1990. They built their home with the help of their friends and family, during their engagement. They lived in this home throughout their 33 years of marriage. Joey and Lesley raised two daughters, Erika and Kyra. Joey was very proud of his family, and enjoyed spending time with them on vacations, cruising around town, and going out to eat.
Those who knew him, know he worked hard and played hard! When he wasn't working, he enjoyed many hobbies. He was a longtime member of the Brookville Bass Club, and later joined the Liberty Bass Club. He was also a member of the Lakeside Cruiser Car Club in Brookville. Joey was a Bengals fan, NASCAR fan, and Reds fan. He enjoyed fishing, wildlife, live music, cars, and racing; especially when accompanied by his family and friends.
Survivors include Lesley, his loving wife of 33 years, two daughters, Erika (Justin) Manning, Kyra (Collin Powers) Rasnick; his mother, Geri Rasnick; sister, Jennifer Rasnick; his father-in-law, Bill Howard; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and B.J. Drewes; brother-in-law, Brian Pence, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Rasnick Sr., a sister, Tonya Pence, his mother-in-law, Janie (Quinlan) Howard, grandparents, Arthur and Maggie Peters, William and Mary Rasnick, and his niece, Hannah Marie Drewes.
Family and friends visited Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Vincent Lampert, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church officiated the private committal services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
