The College Corner Community Club hosted dinner on March 6th at the CC United Methodist Church, followed by a business meeting.  Guests at the dinner included the UCHS Girls’ basketball team and head coach Scott Gray, who spoke about the girls’ winning season.  Gray applauded the leadership of his seniors this year, and noted that because of their outreach to younger players, he expects to see strong seasons ahead. Julie Jolliff with UC Public Library also spoke to the group, updating attendees on the many programs thriving at UCPL, from yoga to euchre, Klean Wash Laundry days, Senior bingo, zumba classes, and more.  Jolliff spoke about future plans, and the mission she and the UCPL staff have to bring unity as well as opportunity to Union County residents of all ages.  She invited residents to come see plans for the upcoming expansion, and offered to sit down for coffee with anyone who is interested in learning more.

Entering their 85th year of service to the community, the College Corner Community Club met briefly after dinner to discuss matters of business.  On the list of topics were Stateline Ball Park activities, and how to deal with dwindling local participation in summer ball programs. Monetary gifts were discussed, with both the UCHS After Prom and the Union County Cancer Association being gift recipients. Looking ahead, the annual Easter Egg Hunt is planned for Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m at the Grove, and the Club’s next business meeting will be Monday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Junction in College Corner.
