Ruby Denham

Ruby ( Thompson Parks) Denham, aged 89, died peacefully at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville on March 12, 2023 after a long illness. The daughter of Elbert (Elva) and America Thompson, Ruby married Ellis Parks in 1951. Ellis Parks, a widower, brought two sons, Franklin L. (Kay) Parks and Kennith W. (Sue) Parks into this union, both of whom Ruby considered her sons. In 1952, Ruby and Ellis were delighted to add their daughter, Lorinda (Ed) Herrell to the family. Ellis preceded Ruby in death in 1965. In 1966, Ruby married Charles Denham and he preceded her in death in 2007. Also preceding Ruby in death are her parents, her brothers Donald and Earl, sisters Loretta (Walker) Halcomb, Dorothy (Denver) Reese and Shirley(Jim) Dixon, granddaughter Katrina Lynn Parks, grandsons Miclael Todd Parks, Bruce Wayne Parks, and Doug Cooper. Also treasured poodle Mollie.
Left to cherish Ruby’s memory are her daughter and son-in-law Lorinda and Ed, of Connersville. and their children Amanda (Maurice) Green, Connersville, Kasandra (Marvin) Hunt, Rushville. Becki (Tim) Prigg, Greenfield and Holli (Jason) Jaques Kingman, Arizona. Her step-son Frank and daughter-in-law Kay of Liberty and their daughter, Jamie Littleton (Russ), Glenwood, and step-son Kennith and daughter-in-law Sue, Greenwood and their son, Richard (April) Parks, Greenwood. Charles’ granddaughter, Amber Wilson who Ruby loved as her own, Nashville, Tennessee. Her sister, Phyllis (Bob) Jacobs, Rushville. She had numerous nieces and nephews and was especially proud of her many great-grandchildren.
Ruby was a beautician for years and also worked for Philco/Ford (later Visteon) until she retired in 1996. She immediately started oil painting, a hobby that she loved and in which she excelled. She enjoyed crocheting, working in her garden and cooking for her family. She lived in the New Salem area for many years before moving in with her daughter and son-in-law. She lived there eight years and had spent the last six and one half years at Flatrock River Lodge.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, who took such loving care of Ruby and her family in her final days, Flatrock River Lodge for their many years of devoted care, and granddaughter Jamie, who worked at Flatrock during the time Ruby was a patient there and took her special treats every day.
Services were held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Moster Mortuary, with Brother Rob Edwards presiding. Friends visited the family on Thursday evening in the mortuary. Burial was held in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in memory of Ruby.
