Marilou Lacy

Liberty resident Marilou Lacy, 74, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Reid Health in Richmond.
Marilou was born on December 5, 1948 to Ernest and Ruby Estridge Roberts in Richmond. She married James Lacy on January 7, 1967, in Liberty; together they shared 44 wonderful years prior to his death in 2011. Marilou attended Short High School and later furthered her education at the Indiana University East. She received her associate's degree in nursing in 1983. Marilou was employed at Reid Health as a psychiatric nurse, from which she retired after many years of service. In addition, she was Union County's health nurse for many years. Marilou was a very thorough woman who took pride in everything she accomplished. She enjoyed sewing and knitting with the wool she spun herself. She was a wonderful cook who made everything from scratch; including her morning coffee where she would grind her own coffee beans. Marilou was a woman of faith; she attended College Corner Presbyterian Church. She was devoted to her Bible and found great comfort leading Bible studies in person, as well as on Facebook. Marilou was strong in her beliefs, and never missed an opportunity to discuss politics and religion. Most of all, she loved her family and was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren.
Marilou is survived by her daughter: Shawna Wilson and her husband Eric; son: Kris Lacy and his wife Laura; her devoted nephew, that brought her great joy: Doug Byrd; grandchildren: Eli, Tim, Cora, Calvin, James; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilou is preceded in death by her husband James; brother: Eugene Roberts and Ruby; sister: Judy Byrd and Max.
Following cremation, a celebration of life was conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2023 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Friends visited at the funeral home until the time of service. Donations may be made to The College Corner Junction Community Center in memory of Marilou.
