The Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway Association (WCBA) held its annual dinner on Thursday, March 16, inside the historic train depot that once sat in Brookville at the Gateway Park in Metamora.

The dinner began with a welcome from former WCBA President Tom Horninger and food served by the Brau Haus in Oldenburg. Then Horninger shared some of the accomplishments of the WCBA since its last annual dinner that was canceled due to the pandemic:

•Hosted the 2021 Statewide Indiana Byway Conference at the depot
•Organized a region-wide Christmas light decorating contest in 2021 with a planned return in 2023
•Replaced many of the scenic byway signs on the byway route
•Provided a peaceful sanctuary at the Gateway Park campgrounds during the pandemic and beyond.

The election of board members and officers was held. The new board members include:
Candy Yurcak
David Cook
Cathy Vandiver

The election of WCBA officers was also held and include:

Guests enjoyed speaker Ron Morris from Ball State University, who shared his memories of the Whitewater Valley as he discussed the importance of preserving its history.

New president Ron Yurcak closed the meeting by sharing some of what will come in 2023. "In 2023, we intend to expand our partners in the form of memberships and volunteers," Yurcak said. "A quarterly newsletter for our memberships. Financial stability is a main priority. Opening the visitors' pavilion on a normal schedule.
