Renovations underway on 167-year-old church
March 29, 2023 at 7:11 p.m.
Andersonville Christian Church would like to announce the current renovations it's undergoing. Pastor Jeffrey Switzer and Pastor Andrew Runyon have been working on these long-awaited renovations for quite some time and are pleased they are now underway. Both hope that, in going forward, they can restore the church to where it was originally.
There is no set date for these renovations to be finished, however, Switzer states that the help of donations have been moving the progress forward. A new roof has already been placed, and soon, painting will start.
Andersonville Christian Church was built in 1855. Pastor Switzer and Pastor Runyon both attended as children, and even became born-again saved Christians at this very church. Both have dedicated their lives to keeping their faith and this church thriving for the community and their patrons.
With the new roof on courtesy of Jeff Maxie, Pastor Runyon states that the next phase in the renewal is to restore the original wood siding and molding, followed by painting. If anyone is willing to donate or give their time, this would be greatly appreciated and accepted. So far, the church has been aided by some great people and fair costs to help the restorations including:
· Jon Rogers sawmill (Laurel) who provided the pearling's at his cost.
· A discount from Tree City Metal (Greensburg).
· A 50% discount from Jeff Maxie. The cross itself was made by Runyon and Switzer.
Thanks to their generosity, the church's restoration is moving along well.
Pastor Switzer stated that while the church is being used still and their service times are Sundays at noon, he also wants the community to know that he runs a YouTube channel where he livestreams services for those who can't make it. You can find him and his videos at @theholybible1111. For those who are curious about Andersonville Christian Church, below is the creed they follow:
"Andersonville Christian Church is not a part of any denominational organization but is composed of Christians who seek to pattern themselves after the original church described in the New Testament. It is our conviction that human creeds and opinions have divided believers over the centuries. For this reason, the Bible is our only rule of faith and practice.
On subjects where God's Word speaks, there must be faith and obedience on our part. Where the Bible does not provide a definite command or example to direct us, there may be liberty of opinion.
We seriously urge you to read your Bible and to see if our church organization, teaching, and way of life follow God's direction. If you find that they do, we give you a warm and sincere invitation to join us in our effort to restore the New Testament church."
Switzer and Runyon hope to spread the word over the new renovations and any encouragement or assistance from the community is welcomed. This project has been long-awaited and to have it finally moving forwards is the first step to a church that has so much history behind it already.
Andersonville Christian Church is located just off State Road 244 and can be visited virtually by Pastor Switzer's YouTube channel or churchfinder. com/andersonvillechristianchurch.
