The Franklin County Historical Society would like to announce that the Franklin County Seminary will be open for tours every Sunday in May from 1p-4p.

These tours will showcase various items, artifacts, and books of history. All these will not only be on display, but they will also be for sale. There will also be an original 1850s era classroom setup, a vintage bedroom setup, and a governor’s room including portraits of the three Indiana Governors from Brookville.

Lastly, there will also be various scrapbooks provided left by Virgil Davis, a teacher from long ago who taught at Brookville High School.

These tours are a world of opportunity for residents. The seminary dates to 1830, as construction began in the fall of 1828 and was completed by January of 1830. The total cost sat at $1810.04!

The Seminary was used for schooling rather than those for priests, and is located on 5th and Mill Street in Brookville.

The tour will provide brochures on the history of the building, some intriguing facts about student counts, and how higher education was handled.

These are every Sunday in May.

The times are 1pm-4pm.

Come out to the seminary to learn more about another historical part of Brookville.
