Franklin County baseball topped conference rival South Dearborn Thursday to split the season series with the Knights. Final was 6-2, thanks to a 4-run third inning by the guests. Brant Ertel, Eli Butt and Xander Rodriguez all doubled in the game; Rodriguez drove in two and Ertel one. Garrett Kuntz also chased home two on a pair of hits. XRod totaled three hits.

Avery Harrison started for the Cats, hurling five scoreless frames while walking five. Chase Burton surrendered two runs in relief, fanning four. Clay Gentry had three hits for the Knights. Ryan Willoughby took the loss. 

At Shelbyville Saturday, FC dropped a 5-3 decision. It was 3-2 in the middle of the sixth, but the Golden Bears rallied for two in the bottom of the frame. Rodriguez and Burton doubled with Rodriguez and Ben Becker credited with an RBI each. Burton and Harrison had two hits each. Senior Max Dickey suffered the loss, striking out three in 5.1 stanzas. Becker finished up.

FC does battle with the Greensburg Pirates this week, starting with Wednesday's trip to Decatur County and Thursday's return trip home.
