The Franklin County varsity softball team powered by Greensburg to pick up a 12-6 EIAC victory last Tuesday. The Wildcats played a well-rounded game with lots of hits, good pitching, and at times solid defense to earn the victory. After suffering the team's first conference loss on Monday, it was nice to see the team bounce back with a nice victory.

The Wildcats' offense was on full display as the team collected 15 hits. FC was led by Brooke Stang and Kiersten Schell, who had four hits each. Stang had two singles, one double and one home run for the Wildcats, while Schell had two singles and two doubles. In addition to Stang's home run, senior Maci Lake also went deep for FC.

Bella Lee got the start for the Wildcats in the circle and earned the victory.  After Greensburg scored three in the first inning, Lee got in the groove and shut down the Pirates for the remainder of the game. Bella threw all seven innings, allowing six runs (three earned), eight hits and struck out nine.

Offense - Stang: 4/5, 3 RBI, 4 R, 1 SB, Schell: 4/4, 2 RBI, 3 R, Lake: 2/4, 2 RBI, 1 R, Kensee Ferman: 1/3 (Double), 1 RBI, 1 R, Annie Hoff: 1/4 (Double), 1 R, Bailey Kaiser: 1/3 (Single), 1 R, Josie Rolfes: 1/4 (Single), 1 RBI, Kassidy Schell: 1/4 (Single), 1 RBI.

FC lost to Rushville on Thursday evening by a final sccore of 6-3. The Wildcats struggled to string hits together off Rushville pitcher Stacey Roberts most of the game. The bright spot for the Wildcats came in the third inning when they scored three runs on four hits. FC only had two other hits the entire game.

The Wildcats also had a rough game defensively as they committed five errors in the field. This gave the Lions many additional opportunities which they were able to take advantage of.

Offense - Kaiser: 2/3 (2 Singles), Stang: 2/3 (2 Singles), 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 SB, Hoff: 1/3 (Single), 1 R, Ki. Schell: 1/3 (Double), 2 RBI. Pitching - Rolfes: 4 IP, 4 H, 5 R (3 ER), 1 K, Lee: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 K.

The team lost a tough road game on Friday night to Knightstown 6 – 5. The Wildcats couldn't string together enough hits to score when they had runners on base.  The Panthers were able to put together a great seventh inning to force extra innings and were able to push one across in the eighth inning to win it.

The offense was led by Ka. Schell and Stang, who each had two hits. The team had nine hits total but were scattered throughout the game so it was difficult for the team to put up a lot of runs.

Lee pitched a solid game for the Wildcats in the circle, pitching the complete game and allowing 6 runs (5 earned), eight hits, and struck out 11.

Offense - Stang: 2/5 (Single, Double), 2 RBI, 1 R, Ka. Schell: 2/4 (Single, Double), 1 RBI, 2 R, Ferman: 1/3 (Double), 1 HBP, Hoff: 1/4 (Single), Kaiser: 1/3 (Single), 1 RBI, Lake: 1/4 (Single), 1 R, Rolfes: 1/4 (Single), 1 RBI.

FC is at conference frontrunner Connersville Thursday.
