Ruth was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Goldie (nee Parrott) and John W. Hampton on May 24, 1936. She is an alumna of Union High School in College Corner, graduate of 1954. She married the love of her life, William O. Stevens, on April 9, 1971 and they enjoyed nearly 40 years together. She was a longtime employee with Ford Motor Company in Connersville and retired from the accounting department. Ruth was also a longtime member of the College Corner Community Church and was very active in her church community.

Her greatest joys surrounded the time spent with her family. She loved to explore and travel, especially treasuring family vacations and time spent outdoors camping or boating. Back at home, she was always first to arrive at family gatherings and cookouts. Ruth simply loved spending time with her family and being with them. In her more quiet moments, she enjoyed tending her flower garden.

Ruth is the devoted mother of Eric (Robin) Stevens, Sr. and Brian (Janelle) Stevens; cherished grandmother of Eric Jr.(Jen), Kelye (Don), Chelsie, Stacy (Patrick), Cassie, Mariah, and great grandmother of Hunter, Ethan, Breanna, Brooklyn, Wyatt, Brayden, Avery, Lucy and great-great-grandmother of Silas. She is preceded in death by and reunited with her husband, her parents, and her sister Betty Plough.

A visitation for Ruth will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 12 pm at the College Corner Community Church; burial will follow at College Corner Cemetery. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the church at 200 Indiana St. West College Corner, IN 47003.
