James E. McCashland, 89, of Liberty, passed away, Saturday, May 20th, 2023 at Woodland Country Manor, Somerville, Ohio.
Jim was born October 21, 1933 to Everett C. and H. Maxine Montgomery McCashland. He was a 1952 graduate of Short High School. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska before it had become a state. He liked old Ford cars and NASCAR. Jim worked for Rodefeld's Auto Parts for over 40 years. He managed the Brookville store from 1972 – 80 and the Liberty store from 1980 until he retired. Jim was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Dawn) McCashland of Liberty; daughter, Linda (Danny) Hohn of Rapid City, South Dakota; grandson, pride and joy, Isaac McCashland of Liberty; niece, two nephews, cousins and many friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Williamson McCashland, who died in 1982; parents; sister, Ann Hart and brother-in-law, Marlin Hart.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Church of Christ, 102 South Main Street, Liberty, Indiana 47353.
Visitation for James E. McCashland will be 1:00 – 3:00p.m. Friday, May 26th at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, 312 W. Union Street, Liberty, Indiana, with a funeral service at 3:00p.m. at the funeral home, David Soper officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Cemetery, Liberty with military honors provided by the Union County Honor Guard.
