CONNERSVILLE- The Franklin County Lady Wildcats' season came to an end on Monday evening. The first round of Sectional 29 opponent for FC was South Dearborn (20-6), who entered on a 14-game win streak. 

FC fell behind early with Bella Lee in the circle. SD put up six runs in the top of the first inning on two walks and three hits. They added two more in the second, scoring on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly. The score remained 8-0 until the fifth frame when SD's Lakota Vincent doubled to make it a 10-run game.

Brooke Stang was able to get the Lady Cats on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Annie Hoff scored on a triple by the sophomore. Kassidy Schell doubled in the next at-bat to make it a 10-2 ballgame. 

With Josie Rolfes toeing the rubber in the sixth inning, SD got a two-run homer from Cory Lee, then back-to-back doubles that put them up 14-2. The Lady Cats went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning to end their season.

The Lady Cats went 16-14 on the year and finished tied for fourth place in the EIAC with a record of 7-7.

The team lost a close game with Rushville 7-5 May 9. The Wildcats battled back several innings to tie the game, but the Lions were able to regain the lead in the top of the seventh to secure the victory. 

Franklin County's offense was led by Stang, who reached base every at-bat. Stang had three hits and drew a walk. Kiersten Schell led the Wildcats in RBI with three while Maci Lake also chipped in two. 

FC lost to South Dearborn May 11 by a final score of 4-3. SD took the lead in their final at-bat in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off double.

The Wildcats outhit the Knights seven to four but couldn't get hits to drive in enough runs as they left 11 runners on base for the game. Stang led the offense as she collected three hits in the game, two singles and a double. Stang's double in the first inning broke the single-season doubles record of 12 previously held by Carrie Mergenthal.

The team lost to Eastern Hancock in the opening game of the Franklin County Invitational May 12 by a final score of 18-0. The Royals scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back. 

The Wildcats struggled to get anything going against the pitching of EH. The team only had two baserunners the entire game. 

FC defeated Delta in the second game of the invitational Saturday by a final score of 14-0. The Wildcats were able to get off to a quick start, scoring all 14 runs in the first two innings of the game.

The Wildcat offense collected 11 hits in the game and twelve RBI, allowing them to have one of their best offensive performances in the past few games. Stang had the big hit to get the Wildcats started in the first inning with a home run. Lake, Rolfes and Stang all collected two hits for the team. Hoff and Stang led the team in RBI with three apiece.

FC's pitching also was dominant in the game, allowing only one hit in the game. Lee and Jillian Harris combined for the shutout for the Wildcats.

The Cats fell to Cascade in the semi-final matchup of the invite by a final score of 7-5.  The Wildcats fought hard against the Cadets but couldn't get the final few runs needed to capture the lead late.

The Wildcats fell behind 5-1 in the third inning, but FC was able to battle back to tie the game in the fourth inning at 5-5. Cascade was able to tack on two more runs in the late innings to secure the victory.

FC recorded 11 hits in the game. The Wildcats' offense was led by Stang with three hits. Bailey Kaiser and Lake each had two hits.

FC defeated Greensburg Thursday, 10-4. The Wildcats played a great game, hitting the ball consistently well throughout the contest. Rolfes and Lee also provided quality pitching in the circle to lead the team to victory. 

FC's offense collected 14 hits, led by senior Kiersten Schell. Schell went 4/4 with a single, two doubles and a home run. She also added two RBI and scored three runs. Hoff, Rolfes and Ka. Schell all collected two hits. Kaiser also hit a line drive home run in the third that left the park in a hurry. Rolfes started and pitched great – 5-plus innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs and striking out six. Lee came into the game in the sixth and finished by striking out the side in the seventh. 

In the regular season wrap-up Friday, FC lost 4-0 to East Central. EC's runs were scored in the second and third. The Cats were held to 3 singles. Lee suffered the loss.
