Franklin County baseball crushed conference foe Rushville on the road Thursday, winning 11-1. The Cats led 8-0 in the middle of the fifth. Brant Ertel had the lone extra-base hit for the Cats, a double. Xander Rodriguez and Garrett Kuntz had three hits each along with three runs-batted in apiece. Ertel had two hits and an RBI and Eli Butt drove in two. Chase Burton had a stolen base. Burton got the win, allowing no earned runs, walking none and fanning six. Trevor Moizuk pitched a perfect inning in relief.

Friday at Cambridge City Lincoln's field in Milton, the Wildcats won 6-4. It was 6-0 through 5.5 frames before the Golden Eagles mounted a failed comeback attempt. Extra-base hits were plentiful on this night, led by Burton's two doubles, Moizuk matching that and Ertel and Ben Becker getting one each. Avery Harrison drove in two runs, as did Ertel (2 hits total) and Moizuk. XRod had a steal. Win went to Ertel (2 perfect innings, 5 Ks). Max Dickey struck out seven in four innings and Braylon Kruthaupt threw a scoreless frame despite walking three.

Sectional for baseball kicks off May 24 at FC when the Greensburg Pirates face off against the Connersville Spartans. The winner of this game will face off against the Lawrenceburg Tigers on Friday. On Thursday the South Dearborn Knights will face off against Rushville at 5:30. Also on Thursday, Franklin County Wildcats and Batesville face off at 7:45. The winner of these two games will play on Friday at 7:45. The championship game will take place
