Edward J. Willhelm, 67 years old, of Cedar Grove, unexpectedly passed away following a tractor accident on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Ed grew up on the family farm in Cedar Grove and built a house for his family next door to the farm and his parents. Farming was his hobby and he enjoyed tending to the cattle, growing beans, corn, and hay, and above all, riding his tractor. Ed was an electrician by trade and a fixer of everything else, all with a toothpick in his mouth. He could fix just about anything that was broken and liked helping his family and friends in any way that he could. When he wasn't fixing something, Ed loved to ride his Harley down the country roads and watch college basketball. He also adored his time as "Pop" with his two grandsons. Tractor rides and feeding the cows and the cats were some of their favorite adventures.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife, Sherry, of 42 years; his children Erin Willhelm and Kelly (Travis) Mobley; grandchildren Henry and Theo; siblings Tom (Fay) Willhelm, Emmie (Bill) Werner, Francis (Mary) Willhelm, Dave (Annette) Willhelm, Betty (Mark) Sullivan, Karen (Rodney) Grubbs; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Rita (Schuck) Willhelm and sister Mary (Louie) Schwegman.
Visitation for Ed was held on Monday, September 11 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial began at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 12 at Holy Guardian Angels Oratory with burial immediately following in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to Mary Willhelm Schwegman Scholarship (checks made payable to FCCF) or Guardian Angels Preservation Organization. Memorials will be accepted at the visitation or can be mailed to Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home. Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences at www.andres-wuestefeldfh.com
