Ulysses Hinkle

Ulysses Hinkle, age 78, of Brookville, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born February 27, 1945 in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Henry and Sally (Proffitt) Hinkle. On December 21, 1963 he was united in marriage to the former Mary Gregory and she survives.
He was retired having worked for over 20 years at Hamilton Tool, then at the former J & J Packaging in Brookville where he was a CNC machine operator.
He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Brookville where he had served as a deacon for 40 years.
In his leisure time he enjoyed raising and showing beagle dogs, horses, and loved animals.
Besides Mary, his wife of nearly 60 years, survivors include five children, Karen Richards of La Grange, Kentucky; Melissa Orschell of Brookville, Roger Hinkle of Brookville, Jeannie Summers of Lawrenceburg and Julie Hinkle of Brookville; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Elsa Martin of Oxford, Ohio, Eugene Hinkle of Hamilton, Ohio, Delbert Hinkle of London, Kentucky and Phyllis McQueen of London, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Gladys Parker; three brothers, Charlie Hinkle, Everett Hinkle and Bobby Hinkle.
Family and friends visited Friday, September 8, 2023 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Visitation was also held Saturday, September 9, 2023 until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Bowling Funeral Home, 1704 North Main Street, London, Kentucky.
Rev. Kevin Waltz, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiated the funeral services on Saturday, September 9, 2023, 1:00 P.M., at Bowling Funeral Home, 1704 North Main Street, London, Kentucky. Burial then followed at Gregory Cemetery in Clay County, Kentucky.
