Lady Wildcats slip to 6-6

Oh, and Michaela Ferman wasn’t bad, either; the junior hurled a complete-game shutout, only permitting one hit while striking out 11. At the plate, she enjoyed a perfect night (3-of-3) with a home run, two singles and 3 runs-batted-in. Kiersten Schell landed a pair of singles and an RBI.
Bree Bischoff and Kloe Bolos each tripled and scored. Maci Lake and Kendal Cain had a single and RBI apiece and Lake swiped a base.
Vs. Connersville (April 26)
The Connersville Spartans put two on the scoreboard in the first inning Monday at Wildcat Field … and kept scoring. By the end of the game, CHS had a 12-5 victory.
The visitors led 2-0 as the Wildcats came to bat in the bottom of one of the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference clash.
Kassidy Schell, Josie Rolfes and Bischoff all scored in a 3-run first for the Cats. Ferman drew a bases-loaded walk for an RBI and Anne Becker grounded out to short for another RBI.
The Spartans tied things in the second off Ferman, who pitched all seven innings. Ki. Schell made an excellent play on a line drive to the corner in left, but it went for a sacrifice fly.
Sophomore Kindred Conley settled in for the guests during the middle frames. She allowed only three base hits beyond the infield from the second through the sixth. In the second, Lake was stranded at 2nd base after a double.
The next half-inning spelled doom for the hosts. Connersville sent 12 batters to the dish, with half of those scoring. A pair of walks and a pair of bunt base hits led to the first two runs. Shelby Wolski brought in another on an infield hit. Then, with two on and one out, Rayleigh Bresher blasted a 3-run homer well over the fence in left. Ferman later got out of a bases-loaded situation.
FC put two runners on in the third, fifth and sixth innings but couldn’t get the necessary hit. Through six complete, CHS held an 11-3 advantage. Sydney Dungan had a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Wolski another RBI in the sixth.
In the seventh, the Spartans got another bomb to center off the bat of Baylie Spurlock. FC tried to stage a comeback in the last half-inning. Bischoff walked and Ferman sent a ball over the fence in center for a 2-run shot. An out later, Bolos doubled. Conley retired the No. 8 and 9 hitters on groundballs.
Camryn Brewer had a 2-hit night for FC.
FC (6-6, 2-2) is amid a 5-day, 5-game schedule. Hauser visits Wednesday, followed by trips to Rushville (Thurs.) and Knightstown (Fri.).
