With Chloe Greene on the mound and continued good hitting from teammates, Union County shut out Knightstown, 6-0, at Johnny Welborn Field on April 19.

Greene and the Lady Panther pitcher Zoe Beabout went the distance on the mound. Greene gave up two hits to go with 11 strikeouts and no walks.
Beabout gave up six runs on 11 hits without a walk and/or strikeout.

Outfielder Whitney King went 3-for-3 and circled the bases twice to lead UC. Greene was 2-for-3 with a single, double and RBI and Sophia Knock was 2-for-3 including a home run in the first inning to put UC in front for good.

Knightstown got off to a good start when lead-off hitter Jalyn Kopp’s single before Greene fanned the next three batters to retire the side.

The Lady Pats put runs on the scoreboard in four of six innings and played good defense from start to finish.

Union County’s big inning was the fourth when King, Russell, Adams, Hill and Greene collaborated to put three runs across the plate.

Annalea Adams, Tori Russell and Shelby Hill had extra base hits (doubles) to go with Knock’s early homer to left field.
