Born January 13, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio to the late George F. and Iona “Chattie” Sisson. He married Florence Kathryn McCracken on February 7, 1954, in Dublin, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Florence, Son George Sisson, grandson Jake Sisson, sister Audrey Meyers, brothers Earl Sisson, Howard Lambert, and William Lambert.. He is survived by his daughter Julie Lynn, granddaughter Jennifer Lynn (Brandon McGraw), great-grandsons Ethan Ray and Aden Cole Sisson, nephews Roger and John Hancock, bonus daughter Debra Kennedy. Lastly, man's best friend Lucy. He served his country Honorably during the Korean Conflict.
In 1968, he moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he continued his career as a Commercial/Industrial Food Service Industry Specialist. He attended the first Culinary Arts School in the US. He was a Certified Food Service Professional. His love for his family was and is endless. He spoke to his wife's picture every night since her death in 2009. His heart broke again when he lost his son and grandson.
Fred was a Patriot tried and true. The love and respect he had for God and his Country was immense, from his suspenders and hats to his sidearm. He still kept in touch with a few Army buddies. Fred remained in contact with several classmates from Dublin High School. Meeting twice a year for lunch. Oh, the stories they told. He bought his first Defense Bond at age 8, “to do his part”, because his brother Billy was in the Army. He had many interests throughout life. He was a member of the Shawnee Hills Council, he enjoyed scuba diving in his younger days, camping and boating, obtained his pilot's license, but decided he was better off a passenger. This made Flo happy.
He was a member of the Cincinnati-Layfette Masonic Lodge No. 483 and achieved 33rd Degree Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in 1973. Fred leaves behind numerous friends and neighbors, many of whom were like family. They always showed him their love and support. A good time was had by all.
Amy Fredericks, Ed Baer, Rob and Michelle Cooper, Tim and Shonya Agin, Karen Miller. Alyssa and Tanner Agin were like grandchildren to Fred and Flo. Twin Forks Campground in Brookville, Indiana, was like a second home to Fred and his family. Beginning in 1974, lifelong friendships were formed. There were so many shenanigans going on day and night. All in good fun.
Fred was a member of the highly popular “Butter Beans Band”. Being non-union, they only took 14 ½ minute breaks.
He leaves behind so many wonderful friends from this time. Mike & Linda Walton, Steve and Denise Back, Gerry Reed, JoAnne O'Connor, Bernie Blose and many, many others. After retirement, Fred took his excellent handyman skills to Lowe's. He worked part-time in hardware. This came in handy when he was finishing Julie's basement. He would tell visitors “When I built this, I didn't know I was going to live here”. Fred was an avid cribbage player. He and his daughter Julie would play most nights after dinner. Final score: 703 – 703.
Fred was like a father to many. He would listen carefully; you had his full attention. Then he would share his loving wisdom. He was always ready, willing, and able to do anything for anyone. He enjoyed life. Did I mention his sense of humor was one of a kind? He was one of a kind. Rest In Peace My Sweet Daddy….My Hero… A special thanks to Hospice of Hamilton and Cheryl Cornett-Arnold for taking such wonderful care of Fred in his last days.
