Ray Hunter

Ray was born to William “Billy” and Ollie (Roberts) Hunter on June 23, 1948 in Metamora, Indiana. He married the former, Debbie Robinette on August 16, 1969; together they spent forty-two years before her death in 2012.
Ray was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1974. He was employed at Visteon from which he retired in 1996. Ray was a jokester who loved to laugh, his favorite thing was to play pranks on his family and friends. He was an avid hunter who never missed an opportunity to take home a squirrel, rabbit, coon or delicious mushrooms. Saying Ray liked to shoot, is an understatement.
In addition to hunting, he entered multiple competitions over the years and received several awards. Ray enjoyed traveling; whether it was a fishing trips together with his wife, father, and mother; or a country cruise, he was always down for the ride. Ray was a skilled woodworker who created a number of pieces including cabinets, bookshelves, and a hope chest for his daughter. Above all, Ray adored spending time with the love of his life, Debbie. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ray is survived by his son and fiancé: Steve Hunter and Toni of Connersville; daughters and their husbands: Kimi Dick and Chad of Cambridge City, Robin James and Damon of Shelbyville; sister and brother in law: Peggy Ledford and Wendell of Connersville; granddaughter her husband: Stephanie Rigor and Trent; grandson: Corey Hunter; great-grandchildren: Alexis, McKenzie, Gunner and Freya; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ray is also preceded in death by his sister and her husband: Linda Green and Jim.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Wayne Ison officiating. Interment will follow at Everton Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration for Research on Pick's Disease, in honor of Ray's beloved wife.
