UC won seven matches, including a pair of pin wins. Evan Wolf (145) and Aiden Evans (160) won on first-round pins and Carson Whitley pinned his 120-lb. opponent in the third round.
“The highlight of the match was Carson Whitley”, UC coach AJ Bryson said.
Whitley is Union County‘s 113-pounder but not in the Richmond match.
“Carson wrestled up, which he has never done before and came out a winner with 86 seconds left in the match. He wrestled tough.”
Milan Invitational
Batesville, Rushville, Milan, Lawrenceburg and Union County entered the Milan Invitational last Saturday and Bryson was pleased with the outcome.
The Patriots won three matches and only lost to Lawrenceburg.
UC filled nine weight classes and four Pats went undefeated. Sophomore Jesus Aquino-Morales (120), freshman Tanner Burns (126) and sophomore Jordan Takara (152) finished with 4-0 records.
Whitley (113), Wolf (145) and Evans finished with a 3-1 record. Nate Reffitt won 2 and lost 2, Leighton Jones was 1-3 and Cal Rudnick 0-1.
Patriots host TC Tigers
Union County hosts the Triton Central Tigers tonight, Thursday, Dec. 9, at Roy E. Stevens Gymnasium beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 11, the Patriots will wrestle in the Richmond Invitational.
