She was born on March 2, 1937, in Portland, IN a daughter to Fred and Dolly Long. She graduated with the class of 1955 from Shortridge High School, Indianapolis. Betty furthered her education attending Miami University and later transferring to Butler University where she met the love of her life, Merlin Kluger. They were married on March 6, 1959, in Indianapolis.
Betty was a teacher at St. Michael's Catholic School. Later she became an artist sharing her gift and love of art with her students. She traveled to Rushville, Greenfield, Shelbyville, New Castle, Richmond, and Cambridge City until she opened her studio at her residence. She enjoyed the friendships that she made over the years with her students. She attended First Presbyterian Church in Liberty and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star #449 in Brookville. At one time, she was also very involved with Extension Homemakers and the Ohio Tole Convention club. Her joys of life were painting, playing cards, reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with grandchildren and family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 55 years Merlin, sister Rosemary Sharp, brother-in-law Gene Sharp, and her great grandson, Conner Baker.
Betty is survived by two sons: Robert Kluger of Brookville, Richard G. (Carijane) Kluger of Indianapolis, daughter Cindy (Carl) Morgan of Liberty, six grandchildren: Patrick Kluger, Alexandra Kluger; Zachary Morgan, Joshua Morgan, Courtney Baker and Mary Ellen Morgan. Two great grandchildren: Colson and Channing Baker.
Visitation was Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, Brookville. Eastern Star Service followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Ronnie Wylie Jr. Burial took place after services at 2:15 pm at Asbury Cemetery, 1100 N. Asbury Rd. Morristown, IN. In lieu of flowers family is requesting donations be directed to the Union County Library, where Betty always enjoyed the programs they provided, or your local blood bank.
