Born May 3, 1942 in Franklin County, Indiana he was one of five children born to the late John A. & Dorothy H. (Wilson) Lake. On December 31, 1960 he was united in marriage to Doris 'Jean' Snyder, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2021.
Don was retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation where he worked for over 44 years. He also hauled water for people for many years. In his leisure time he enjoyed mowing grass and cutting firewood. He had been a member of the New Trenton Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Lake of New Trenton, Indiana, a son Wendell Lake of Brookville, Indiana; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Lake of Greenfield, Indiana and Francis Lake of Cedar Grove, Indiana.
In addition to his parents and wife Doris 'Jean', he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Jean Lake, a daughter, Kimberly Ann Lake who died November 16, 2020; a sister, Delores Helton; as well as two brothers, Melvin Lake and Gerald Lake.
Family & Friends visited from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Vincent Lampert officiated the Catholic Funeral Rite at 12 Noon, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, burial followed at Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery.
