JoeAnn (Barbour) Bruns of Brookville, Indiana, age 85, began her eternal life on Dec. 11, 2021, at her home of sixty-five years in the presence of her beloved family.

Born Dec. 15, 1935 in Riley, Ohio, JoeAnn (Josie) was the daughter of Clarence and Henrietta (Etta) Barbour. The family moved to a farm in Springfield Township (Indiana) when JoeAnn was in third grade. She graduated from Springfield School in 1954. On April 14, 1956, she was married in Oxford Ohio at St Mary Church to fellow classmate, Lester Bruns. JoeAnn was a faithful active member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

JoeAnn and Les began their married life on the farm on Smith Rd a couple of miles outside of Brookville, Indiana. She was a farmwife and homemaker and enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, playing cards, bowling and spending time with family and friends. Many people also will remember JoeAnn from her thirty-five years serving food every Wednesday at White's Sale Barn and Flea Market.

For ten years, JoeAnn was the 4-H leader for the St. Michaels Handy Helper group and for fifty-three years, she was a busy 4-H mom and grandma. She was a proud mother of a Special Olympics athlete and coached the Special Olympics bowling team.

In addition to Les, her husband of sixty-five years, JoeAnn is survived by five children: Diane Pennington, Debbie (Don) Moore, Doug (Lisa) Bruns, Donna Bruns, and Denise (Brian) Busony. She also is survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and another on the way: Kevin (Lindsay) Moore and Lane, Hudson, and Baby Girl; Jason (Amanda) Moore and Brayden and Jace; Derrick (Amanda) Foster and Karmen, Cooper and Cruz; Megan (Chris) Boone and Marley and Eli; Drew (Breanna) Foster and Nolan and Gavin; Kessie Miles; Chloe Miles; Ashton Bruns and Autumn Bruns.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister RoeAnn Barbour; older sister Maxine (Barbour) Lewis; older brother Robert (Butch) Barbour; her son Richard (Ricky) and son-in-law Jake Pennington.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, Brookville. Father Vincent Lampert will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, 11:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Memorial donations can be directed towards St. Michael's Capital Building Fund Campaign.
