He was born on Feb. 9, 1952 in Aurora, the son of Earl Eugene and Minerva Rose (Carter) Burgess. He lived most of his life in Decatur, Franklin and Fayette counties. He had worked at Philco Ford in Connersville. Charles enjoyed going to flea markets and taking care of his small animals.
He is survived by his sisters, Charlotte Evans of Connersville, Ruth (Stan) Mozingo of Osgood, Minerva Delores (Earl) Moore of Brookville, Diane (Eugene) Thomas of Metamora and Debra Ellen (Jimmy) Moore of Brookville; his brothers, Rick L. (Connie) Burgess of Lewisville and Daniel Eugene Burgess of Monticello, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Raymond, William, Thomas Earl and Donald Burgess.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Jimmy Wells officiating. Burial will follow at the Rockcreek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. We ask visitors to follow social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are recommended.
