The Union County Patriots Spring Athletic Awards Program heard from coaches of the spring athletic teams and recognized the student/athletes who make Union County Spring Sports interesting.

Veteran softball coach Scott Gray began by introducing players and made note of their top four finish in the state.

“I thought that the 2019 softball team’s accomplishments would stand a long time,” Gray said. “But this year’s team set 10 team records and 12 individual records which is outstanding.”

UCHS baseball, track and field, girls tennis and boys golf teams were all had the guidance of first year coaches...Jordan Ashbrook-baseball, boys track and field-Phil Cox, girls track and field-Sammie Elleman, girls tennis-Allison Kassens and boys golf-Andrew McCashland. Athletic director Ryan Overholt made presented a trophy to each one, noting the date of their first win as a UCHS coach.

Fourteen UC student athletes who earned varsity letters for four years were also recognized.

Student athletes were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom with the presentation of UC Scholar Athlete Gold and Silver Certificates and Tri-Eastern Conference Academic All-Conference certificates.
Individual team meetings were held where coaches announced the special award winners in each sport.
