On Sept. 21, Franklin County volleyball lost to Northeastern in 5 sets (25-20, 12-25, 25-23, 20-25, 12-15).

“We served a very aggressive game right back to them but were not able to pull ahead on the scoreboard,” said coach Jill Mergenthal.

FC traveled to the Heritage Days Classic in Hauser Sept. 25. Against the hosts, FC fell 13-25, 15-25. The team lost to Madison 10-25, 9-25 and saw Kassidy Schell go down with an ankle injury. Playing with a smaller lineup, FC was edged by Rushville, 25-27, 25-27. Versus Oldenburg, the Twisters won 28-26, 25-9.

FC played well Sept. 27 in a rare contest with Talawanda but lost 25-18, 25-16, 25-14. Hoff had 1 ace, 3 kills, 1 assist and 8 digs. Hornsby had 2 aces, 2 kills, 2 assists and 7 digs. Ki. Schell added 4 kills and 18 digs. Lea had 8 digs. S. Billman added 1 kill, 6 assists and 3 digs. T. Billman collected 4 kills and 1 dig. Reeves had 1 solo block and 1 kill. Stacy added 1 kill and 4 digs. Williams had 10 digs, 1 ace and 6 assists.

“I am so proud of this team and how we are battling,” said the coach after a 25-10, 25-15, 25-24 loss to Batesville. Lineup chemistry wasn’t there in a 25-9, 25-12, 25-5 loss to Lawrenceburg.

FC competed in the Batesville sectional Tuesday.
