Hagerstown

The Lady Pats fought back at Hagerstown to lead by 3 and 4 in the third set and needed extra points before the Lady Tigers pulled it out, 30-28.

Emma Wooley and Chloe Greene led Union County with 9 and 5 kills, respectively, Carly McCashland and Brooke Fields led in digs (13, 10) and Kasey Lang made 26 of UC’s 28 assists.

The win gave the Lady Tigers a 16-6 record and 6-1 in the Tri-Eastern Conference. Illness shortened Union County’s roster in both of last week’s matches.

The match was similar at North Decatur with UC putting a short roster on the floor due to illness.

North Decatur won, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-13 to improve to 21-8. UC stands at 17-4.

Invitational
Jay County defeated Adams Central, 25-20, 13-25, 15-9, to win last Saturday’s Union County Volleyball Invitational. The Lady Patriots defeated Lawrenceburg, Northeastern, Alexandria in the Blue Division to reach the championship match.

Adams Central defeated Whiteland, Seton Catholic, and Union County in the Red Division to go up against Jay County in the championship match.

Union County defeated Seton Catholic, 25-15, 25-15 in their opening match and followed up with a 25-19, 25-21 win over Whiteland before losing to Adams Central, 25-21, 16-25, 15-11.

Union County came back in the third-place match to defeat Alexandria in three sets, 25-21, 23-25. 15-11.

Sectional starts tonight
The IHSAA Class 2A Volleyball Sectional at Union County opens Thursday, Oct. 14, (tonight) with Union County taking on Eastern Hancock at 6 p.m.
Northeastern and Knightstown play the second game at 7:30 p.m.

Centerville takes on the Match 1 winner at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 16, and Hagerstown plays the Match 2 winner at 12:30 p.m. The winners advance to Saturday’s championship game at 7p.m.
