Born December 17, 1929 in Cedar Grove, he was the son of the late Frank & Carrie (Metzler) Frey. On September 14, 1957 he was united in marriage to the former Rosemary Engst, and she survives.
Ralph was a farmer, having farmed in Franklin County all of his life. In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; the outdoors, gardening and working on his land. He also liked to tinker and was known to be able to fix most anything.
He was a lifelong member of Holy Guardian Angels Parish in Cedar Grove.
In addition to Rosemary, his wife of over 64 years, survivors include five children, Edward (Marci) Frey of Cedar Grove, Jane (Robert) Trach of Cincinnati, Patricia Frey of Cincinnati, Diane Frey and Mary Ann Frey both of Cedar Grove; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Doerflein of Harrison, Ohio and two brothers Carl (Coralee) Frey of Cedar Groveand Donald (Julia) Frey of Cedar Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Constance Gurski, who died May 20, 1996; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Mark Trombley; a sister, Rosemary Harrison, and a brother, Francis Frey.
Family and friends visited from 3 till 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville; where the rosary was recited at 5:30 P.M.
Rev. Vincent Lampert officiated the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 18, 2021, 10:00 A.M., at Holy Guardian Angels Oratory, 405 U.S. Highway 52, Cedar Grove, Indiana. Burial followed in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
