The Tri High Titans finished the football season with an action-packed Senior Night 41-7 win over Union County last Friday night.

“They (Tri) have run the ball really well all year and have a huge back,” UC coach Joel Hofmann said.

The Titans put the running game in gear early and within the first three minutes 200-lb. fullback Parker Burk stood in the end zone. Burk finished with 136 rushing yards and 45 reception yards. A good PAT put Tri up, 7-0.

Union County responded with a 64-yard touchdown drive that put Ragen Bias in the end zone before time ran out in the first quarter. Bias also kicked the PAT to tie the score at 7-7, but not for long.

Tri came back with a pair of TDs in the second quarter – the second one with 25 seconds left in the first half.

“I thought the first half we played really well and had the ball to start the second half,” Hofmann said.

Tri was quick to score again after the half to lead by 21 (28-7).

“From there we just couldn’t get things going. Game was still tight until the injury at the end of the third quarter,” Hofmann said.

UC lineman Ryland Schulte was injured and transported to the hospital with 15 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

“Obviously our guys weren’t ready to roll after about a 30-minute delay,” Hofmann said. “We really lost an emotional and physical leader on the defense in Ryland.”

Monday morning, Hofmann added that Ryland is doing much better. Just an abundance of caution on neck injuries. Doctors think its just bruising and swelling at the moment, but he’s due for a check-up this week.
