The Union County Lady Patriots posted an unblemished 7-0 Tri-Eastern Conference season record last week at Knightstown and walked away with the TEC Tournament Championship trophy at Memorial Park Golf Course on Saturday in New Castle.

The Lady Patriots won the 18-hole tournament with 374 and ahead of second place Northeastern at 399.

“I’m so proud of them,” first-year Lady Patriot coach Ryleigh Kennedy said. “And we are missing one of our key players.”

Union County last won the TEC Girls Golf championship in 2017.
“Our goal was to win the TEC,” Kennedy said. “And three placed in the Top Ten.”

Three-of-four Lady Patriots earned TEC Top Ten honors - Emma Kassens, Peityn Gillman and Mady McClure.

Kassens was medalist at 81 in a close finish with Winchester’s Neveah Lanter’s 83. UC freshman Peityn Gillman stood third overall with 90 and Mady McClure was in eighth with 99.

“Morgan (Ball) had her best 18-hole finish (104) this season,” Kennedy said. “They understand course management, and their putting has improved. I’m so proud of them.”

Union County plays in the Connersville Invitational this week before heading to Friday’s (Sept. 18) IHSAA sectional at the Elks Country Club in Richmond.
