Lady Wildcats dominate Richmond

The Lady Wildcats softball team hosted Richmond last Thursday. Senior Michaela Ferman was in the circle to start the game and through the first three innings, she surrendered just two hits while striking out eight of the 11 batters she faced.
The Lady Cat's bats exploded on offense. In the first inning FC batted through the lineup and scored nine runs before the Lady Red Devils could get their third out. The second inning saw the Lady Cat's add five more runs to the scoreboard. With Ferman dominating the Richmond batters, they failed to add any runs through the first three innings. FC went on another run in the bottom of the third, batting through the lineup again and adding nine more runs.
Sophomore Bella Lee came into pitch for the Lady Cat's in the fourth inning. It took Lee a couple batters to get into her groove. She walked two, gave up a hit, and a run in the fourth frame before retiring Richmond with a strikeout to end the top half of the inning. The FC offense put up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Lee retired the final three batters for Richmond in the top of the fifth to seal FC's third victory of the season. The 25-1 win saw all 15 Lady Cat's that suited up, score in the contest. Seven of the FC players batted .1000 in the game.
Through their first three contests, The Lady Cat's have outscored their opponents 49-1, collecting 55 hits, 12 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 homeruns.
The Lady Wildcat's have two conference games coming up this week. Tonight, they will face Batesville in a home contest, and tomorrow they travel to Rushville. This Saturday they will travel up 101 to take on Union County in a doubleheader.
