Rosina Tarvin Gesell, age 93, of Brookville, died Tuesday, April 5, at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.
Born July 1, 1928 in Franklin County, she was one of 14 children born to the late Charles and Daisy (Reese) Metcalf. She was united in marriage to Richard L. Tarvin, and he preceded her in death on May 8, 1976. She was united in marriage to Floyd C. Gesell on June 10, 1998, and he preceded her in death April 25, 2017.
Rosina was retired having worked at the former Jay Garment Works in Brook-ville. She also had worked as a dispatcher for the Brook-ville Police Department, was employed at Eastview Elementary School, and then for over 22 years at the former Hearthstone Restaurant.
She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Brookville. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, and had been a member of the Best Friends Travel Club; as well as spending time with her family.
Survivors include three children, Greg (Susie) Tarvin of Corbin, Kentucky; Martha Ann (Earl) Stenger of Brook-ville, Troy (Lisa) Tarvin of Connersville; a daughter-in-law, Bridget Tarvin of Con-nersville; a step-daughter, Susan (Michael) Bailey of Milton; eight grandchildren, Kelly Tarvin, Shane Tarvin, Taylor (Alyssa) Medley, Dr. Stacey (Nicole Taylor) Tarvin, Nicholas Tarvin, Dr. Adam (Allison) Stenger, Benjamin (Dr. Lauren Overhage) Steng-er, Richard Tarvin, Courtney (Caleb) Andry; many great-grandchildren; five sisters, Alberta Lacy of Brookville, Susan (Allen) Bohlke of Titus-ville, Florida, Alma Feltz of Titusville, Florida, Charlene Ollier of California and Nancy Herald of Brookville; three brothers, Milo (Helen) Metcalf of Greensburg, Jerry (Tina) Metcalf of Brookville, Doyle (Carol) Metcalf of Richmond as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Tarvin who died April 9, 2006; a sister, Mary Alice Metzger; four brothers, Vernon Metcalf, Herman Metcalf, Leo Metcalf and Robert Metcalf.
Rev. Ladona Webb, pastor of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, officiated the funeral services on Saturday, April 9, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
Family and friends visited on Saturday, April 9, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home.
